Mom's Clothes

2018

"I did the thing I was told to do, but it wasn’t what I wanted.
I'm pretty strong but if you bully me enough, it'll wear me down."

A nonfiction reflection on being out of the closet.
As a queer person of color, it's taken me a long time to be as comfortable as I am through navigating forms of intimacy, gender, and self worth.
It doesn't always get better, but you're beautiful however you decide to present, including the choice of garments you decide to wear.

Behind the Scenes

Documentation of shooting in different studio spaces, working with various patterned fabrics (including sheets that have been hand-dyed myself and some pre-made clothing collected from my mother/friends/thrift stores), and using a Motion Control Rig.
